Meet Our Coaches

Coach Amanda Malek

Coach Amanda Malek is a highly skilled table tennis player whose credits include a Nike commercial featuring her table tennis excellence at age 15 and a place on the USA National Junior Table Tennis Team. Over the course of the last 10 years, Amanda has been an active high level table tennis player, an associate team coach and a very busy private lesson instructor at several clubs in Southern California. She has a passion for table tennis and is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and skills in a welcoming and safe environment. Amanda is available for private and group classes by appointment. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Coach Alberto Acuna

As a former member of the Peruvian national table tennis team, Coach Alberto is an experienced, high level table tennis player. He knows the game very well, and knows how to teach all skill levels and styles. He will help you to improve all areas of your game, regardless of your current skill level.

Coach Pettuan Yap

Coach Pettuan is a highly experienced table tennis player and coach. She was classically trained in Asia and has been playing at a high level for over 30 years. She has been teaching the sport to kids and adults in Southern California for the past 15 years and has developed a strong following among those who are looking to learn to play correctly, whether for exercise, recreation or competition. As a multidisciplinary athlete who also competes in volleyball and distance running, coach Pet is well aware of the unique strengths and opportunities for improvement any aspiring player may possess and the challenges many of us are likely to face when learning new skills. She has developed training techniques that cater to a variety of learning styles and strives to make the game both fun and challenging, while producing measurable results.

Coach Angela Tian

Coach Angela is a former professional table tennis player from the Soviet Union. She started playing when she was 8 years old in Kazakhstan, and by age 14 she became a national youth team member.  Angela was a Russian Junior Singles gold medalist, and she represented the USSR  junior team in the European Youth Championship where she won two bronze medals in singles and team events. Angela was a winner and runner-up in various tournaments and championships in Moscow city as a member of club DINAMO.  She studied physical education at Moscow University with a specialization of table tennis instructor. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked as a personal trainer instructor at 24 Hours Fitness and as a table tennis coach at the Gilbert Table Tennis Club in Los Angeles. She is now coaching at South Bay Table Tennis and is ready and able to help you improve your technique, consistency, service, competitive point play, and game preparation.

Coach Hiroe Imai

As a player, Hiroe reached the pinnacle of Japanese table tennis, including winning the 2009 & 2010 Tokyo Singles Championships. She has established herself as a top level coach. If you’re serious, she will help you to reach your table tennis goals!

Coach Jordan Yee

Coach Jordan is a table tennis fanatic! With over nine years’ experience working with youth, he has a passion to teach table tennis skills to beginners and works step by step with all learning styles. In addition, he coaches several youth teams for the Los Angeles Ping Pong League. Moreover, he organizes tournaments in Southern California for the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association and works for Major League Table Tennis, the first professional ping pong league in the US. Coach Jordan is a strong advocate of developing healthy and active lifestyles through sports and strives to introduce competitive table tennis to our community.
